Beth Stewart, Executive Director, is lead staff for the Upper Cahaba Watershed Study and our storm water and ADEM reform programs. Beth has a Master's of Landscape Architecture from U. C. Berkeley with a focus in urban planning. She had 17 years of experience in local government planning and development review and was co-founder and director of the Kentucky Waterways Alliance, a statewide nonprofit organization, prior to joining CRS in 1995.
Dr. Randall Haddock, Ph.D., Field Director, has led CRS's work on the water quality, science, and recreation programs for 14 years. Randy provides policy analysis for the Upper Cahaba Watershed Study and state Clean Water Act implementation. He coordinates with Tricia Sheets to locate and abate pollution sources. Dr. Haddock also works with local governments and developers to improve the design of development to reduce watershed degradation. Dr. Haddock is one of the south's premier ecologists and experts on watershed processes and our chief guide on recreational trips.
Tricia Sheets, Administrative Director, not only oversees CRS's financial management system, but is also a lead staff in water quality programs. Tricia is CRS representative on the Environmental Services Advisory Committee and expert on sanitary sewer systems. She leads all work related to the county sewer program and investigates point source problems and conducts document research. Tricia has been with CRS for 14 years and works with communities to manage development issues and tackle pollution problems.
Monica Carmichael, Director of Development, joined CRS in early 2006. She holds an MBA with an emphasis in nonprofit management and more than 10 years experience in fundraising, event planning and environmental management.
Gordon Black, Education Director, has spent most of his spare time and professional career in various kinds of boats, with 43 years experience in canoes, 35 years in whitewater kayaks, and 24 years in rafts. Gordon has a national reputation as a teacher and respected practitioner of boating Safety and Rescue. Gordon was the American Canoe Association’s national Director of Safety Education and Instruction for 6 years, and served on the ACA’s board. Gordon has frequently been a featured speaker and instructor at conferences, camps, and schools and has written or edited numerous books and articles.
Kim Adams, Administrative Assistant, Joined CRS in 1998. Previously she worked with the Birmingham Public Library and the United Methodists Children's Home. Kim handles all administrative logistics for the Society and assists with financial management.
James R. Hood, Membership Services Coordinator, joined CRS in 1999 with experience in communications and technology. James manages member data and communications, maintains CRS information technology and internet resources and provides support to fundraising and public education programs.
